Montagu @ Fancourt – George

Since opening in the early 90′s with just 27 Gary Player-designed holes, Fancourt’s Outeniqua and Montagu golf courses have matured and developed into two of the finest 18-hole parkland layouts in the country. A round on either is a special experience, sculpted and finished as they are, with rare attention to detail and designed with the coastal George winds in mind.  Montagu, named after the Montagu pass was originally designed by Gary Player and is a much celebrated parkland course.  The exquisitely conditioned Montagu is at the heart of Fancourt, with its glorious parkland layout, covering large tracts of varying terrain on rolling land.  It’s beauty is enhanced by mature trees, flower beds, shrubs and water hazards that provide a colourful contrast to the landscape.

The warm-up area, featuring a full-length range and a chipping and bunker practice area, is available to all golfers before play.

Golf carts are available for hire, weather permitting.

Directions:

From Cape Town direction:

- Travel on the N2 direction Port Elizabeth;
- Take the George Airport / Herold’s Bay turnoff;
- Turn left on the R404, and continue past the airport;
- At stop street drive straight over the R102 and continue on the R404 through farmlands, direction Oudtshoorn;
- You will arrive at Fancourt which is situated on your right.

- Driving time Cape Town – Montagu @ Fancourt: ~5hrs. / 450km

From George Airport direction:

- Turn left out of George Airport on R404;
- At stop street drive straight over the R102 and continue on the R404 through farmlands, direction Oudtshoorn;
- You will arrive at Fancourt which is situated on your right.

From Knysna/Plettenberg Bay direction:

- Travel on the N2 direction Cape Town;
- Take the George Airport / Herold’s Bay turnoff;
- Turn right on the R404, and continue past the airport;
- At stop street drive straight over the R102 and continue on the R404 through farmlands, direction Oudtshoorn;
- You will arrive at Fancourt which is situated on your right.
