What started almost 30 years ago as a winter getaway for runners and cyclists, has since then grown into one of the biggest festivals in South Africa: the Knysna Oyster Festival. More than 100 exciting events ranging from cycling, running and adventure races to wine and whisky tastings and gala evenings, are expected to draw about 65 000 people to the beautiful Garden Route town over the 10 days of the festival.
The festival’s two main sporting events, the Pick n Pay Cape Times Knysna Forest Marathon and the Pick n Pay Weekend Argus Rotary Knysna Cycle Tour, will take place over the two weekends of the festival. These events will give participants the unique opportunity to run and cycle through the ancient indigenous forests of Knysna and experience the scenic beauty of the area.
One of the events which has been added to the action packed calendar in recent years is the Knysna Classic Golf Day presented by Tabasco. Taking place at the prestigious Pezula Championship Golf Course on the Eastern Head of Knysna, this promises to be a excellent opportunity to test your golfing skills in between your cycling and running skills….
