Eastern Cape

With its dramatic coastline, from the Storms River in the south to the Wild Coast in the north, and its majestic Drakensberg separating the interior from the dry and vast Karoo, the Eastern Cape may well be considered the most varied province of South Africa. In size it is the second largest, and over the last few years it has established itself as the premier game-viewing area. Many private game reserves pride themselves in being able to show you the Big Five. The Addo Elephant Park has been expanded to include a 120,000 hectare marine reserve, and is now able to show the Big Seven: the whale and great white shark have been added to the original five of elephant, lion, rhino, leopard and buffalo. The obvious combination will be to play some golf and view some game, but alternative ‘off course’ activities include getting to know the different cultural influences in this area as well as visiting amazing natural and geological sites.
