Garden Route
Recently voted ‘Golf Destination of the Year – Africa and Gulf States’ by IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators) South Africa’s Cape Garden Route boasts a wealth of top-class golf courses, of which the courses at Fancourt in George are probably the most well-known, especially after hosting not only the Presidents’ Cup in 2003, but also the Women’s World Cup of Golf in 2005! Pezula (formerly Sparrebosch) on top of the Heads in Knysna is definitely not to be missed, and newer editions like Simola (a Jack Nicklaus signature course), Oubaai (designed by Ernie Els) and Pinnacle Point just add to the variety of spectacular courses in this area. The Garden Route is the Golf Mecca of South Africa, and has become a destination in itself. Also the ‘off course’ experiences this area offers are of a high standard and vary from ferry rides on the Knysna Lagoon to scenic train rides, adventurous ostrich ‘rides’ or even more spectacular tree top swinging, quad biking or bungee jumping. Truly something for everybody!
